France enjoyed victory over hosts The Netherlands to continue their strong start to the Wheelchair Tennis World Team Cup in Apeldoorn.

Their men's team began their pursuit of a sixth title in seven years by triumphing 2-1 in Pool C in the Dutch city.

Nicolas Peifer and Stephane Houdet earned singles victories to secure France's second straight win at the tournament, before Rody de Bie and Ruben Spaargaren earned a doubles victory for the Dutch team.

Australia secured their first win of the tournament by beating Morocco in the second Pool C match of the day.

Top seeds Britain continued their fine start as Gordon Reid and Alfie Hewett earned wins over Spanish opposition, with a double success sealing a 3-0 win.

Reid beat Martin de la Puente 6-2, 6-1, while Hewett claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Daniel Caverzaschi.

Poland edged China 2-1 in the second Group A fixture.

Japan earned a dominant victory over South Korea to strengthen their position as Pool B leaders, while Brazil defeated Thailand.

Both Pool D matches will conclude tomorrow with rain having halted play at the Tennis Club de Sprenkelaar.

Women's matches were also disrupted by the conditions, with Japan’s match with defending champions China stopped after just three games of the opening singles rubber.

The Netherlands will resume their Pool A match against Switzerland with the advantage, after Aniek van Koot wrapped up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Karin Suther-Erath before the rain.

Britain lead the United States in Pool B, with Louise Hunt having overcome Shelby Baron 6-2, 6-3.

Australia secured progression to the semi-finals of the quad competition after claiming their second win of the event.

They beat Japan 2-1 to advance, while Israel also earned a last four spot by edging South Africa 2-1.

Defending champions Britain were beaten 3-0 by the United States in Pool B, with the Americans now on the brink of progressing to the semi-finals.

Canada overcame The Netherlands by the same score, with their match against Britain set to prove crucial in deciding the full semi-final line-up.
