Switzerland's Henry Tschopp retained his lead on the second day of the International University Sports Federation World University Golf Championship in The Philippines.

Tschopp was one shot clear overnight at the Pradera Verde Golf and Country Club in Lubao.

A one-under-par round of 68 proved enough for him to maintain the position at the newly-built course in Barangay Prado Siongco.

He lies one shot clear of two Japanese players, including Daiki Imano, who proved the star player on the second day.

Imano produced a four-under-par round of 68, having carded a level par round yesterday.

His compatriot Taisei Shimizu also boasts the same score through two rounds.

Hong Kong's Hei Nam Isabella heads the women's standings, who is par for the tournament so far.

France’s Charlotte Lafourcade is one shot adrift, along with South Korea’s Dasom Ma, following a four-under-par round.

Lafourcade helped France to a three shot lead in the women’s team competition, with South Korea proving their nearest rivals.

Japan are five shots ahead of Switzerland in the men’s event and appear on track to secure the title.

The biennial Championships were last held in 2016 at the Planchetorte Golf Course in Brive in France.

Nearly 80 male and female student golfers took part in the tournament.
