Poland narrowly defeated Ireland in the opening match of the Blind Football Euro Challenge Cup in Kraków today.

Robert Mkrtchyan scored the only goal of the game in a 1-0 victory for the home team.

Hungary later recovered from a goal down to defeat Belarus in the second match of the day.

Yury Ardynau had scored an opening goal to put Belarus 1-0 up.

But second-half strikes from Istvan Szabó and Szabolcs Orbán turned the match around in a 2-1 win for the Hungarians.

Switzerland, making its international debut, drew 1-1 with Ireland later in the day.

Belarus recovered to beat Austria 5-0.

All six teams will contest a group stage before semi-finals are held.

The final is set for Saturday (May 12).
