Iran remain on course to clinch a second consecutive Asian Football Confederation Women's Futsal Championship crown as they progressed to the semi-finals of this year's event with a comeback victory over China in Thailand.

The defending champions recorded a 4-2 win over their Chinese opponents at the Bangkok Arena to move into the last four.

Tian Jiao and Zhang Yue put China 2-1 ahead at the break before Iran rallied and scored three unanswered goals in the second half.

Iran will face Vietnam, who beat Indonesia 2-1 at the same venue, in the semi-finals.

"It was a very hard match, but we knew it would be like this," said Iran coach Shahrzad Mozafar.

"We did a lot of work in our training session and I think we were ready for everything, but the second half performance was much better than the first half.

"Overall I am satisfied that we beat China, and I have to say congratulations to China for their big improvement since last year.

"As I said yesterday, this is the new power in Asia."

Japan, runners-up at the inaugural edition of the tournament in 2015, also progressed to the last four as they thrashed Uzbekistan 5-1 at the Indoor Stadium Huamark in the Thai capital.

Thailand await for the Japanese team in the next round after the host nation cruised to a 6-1 win over Chinese Taipei.

The semi-finals are due to be held tomorrow.
