Beijing 2022 have announced construction at the Zhangjiakou cluster has resumed following a delay due to challenging weather conditions.

Zhangjiakou is set to host snowboarding, ski jumping, biathlon and cross-country skiing at the Winter Olympics.

Organisers stated that due to the cold winter in the region, the period for effective construction of venues is short.

It has been claimed that with warmer weather conditions in recent days, builders have now been able to resume construction.

Beijing 2022 have stated that 27 projects have resumed, including work on the Kuyangshu Nordic Center and Biathlon Centre.

Construction of the Genting Snow Park, which will be home to slopestyle and halfpipe competitions, has also resumed.

A series of roads to the venues will also be worked on as the weather improves, while a series of projects have also begun.

This includes the Zhangjiakou Olympic village, according to the Chinese news agency Xinhua.

The Zhangjiakou cluster will be home to eight competition and non-competition venues during the Games.

Liu Yumin, executive deputy director of the Beijing 2022 construction department, has claimed the competition venues are scheduled to be on track to be ready for testing in December 2019.

Organisers claim the project has a short construction time and will be completed to the highest standards.

They state the organising committee will fully support the construction of various projects and coordinate with the host cities.

Coordinating with international organisations, various Olympic stakeholders and business areas will also be achieved, according to Beijing 2022, as they look to complete projects to requirements.
