Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP) President José Manuel Constantino has led a delegation visit to Mozambique’s capital Maputo, where several cooperation agreements were signed with national governing bodies in the African nation.

The agreements were signed at the headquarters of the Mozambique National Olympic Committee (COM).

Constantino stated that they came in response to requests made by Mozambican Federations and will "materialise" in different areas.

"There will be support for the needs of each Federation, as well as support for Mozambican athletes studying in Portugal, coaches, referees and officials," he was reported as saying by Portuguese sports newspaper Record.

Constantino visited Maputo at the invitation of COM counterpart Aníbal Manave.

He was accompanied by the Presidents of the Portuguese Federations of athletics, canoeing, judo and swimming.

Constantino claimed that similar partnerships could be signed with more National Federations in the future.

His visit came in the same week that the COM signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Mozambique’s Faculty of Physical Education and Sports.
