France’s Thomas Proust and Martineau Clement occupy top spot going into the final day of the Nacra15 World Championships at the Barcelona International Sailing Centre.

The duo sit on five points after the second day of action, which saw three races held.

The first race was not possible until the afternoon, despite the sailors going out onto the water early in the morning.

A further four races are scheduled for tomorrow.

Ranking second in the standings are Belgium’s Henri Demesmaeker and Frederique Van Eupen with 24 points.

Australia’s Ashleigh Swadling and Jed Fatches are third with 28 points.

Overnight leaders Doran Gouron Le Roch and Kenza Coutard have dropped to fourth place.

The French pair have 31 points.

A total of 60 teams from 18 countries have gathered for these Championships, which offer the chance to qualify for this year’s Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires.

Seven places for Buenos Aires 2018 are available in Barcelona to countries which have not already qualified through continental events.

Nineteen races had been scheduled in all.

This, however, has been reduced to 10 due mainly to the postponed start until yesterday as a result of minimal wind.
