RMIT University in Melbourne will stage this year's UniSport Australia 3x3 basketball nationals tournament, it has been confirmed.
The event is due to be held at the A’Beckett Urban Square, located on the Melbourne campus, on July 31 and August 1.
UniSport Australia has also confirmed there will be no qualification process for the event, which is open to all member universities.
They may enter one men’s team and one women’s team for the competition, played under the National Basketball League (NBL) 3x3 Hustle programme.
The 3x3 Hustle was created in partnership with the NBL and Basketball Australia to coincide with the format gaining a place on the Olympic programme at Tokyo 2020.
It is claimed it is a "a connected product from grass roots to elite performance", which aims to "provide a pathway for aspiring players to rise from the suburbs of Australia to the world stage".
The 3x3 basketball nationals has been classified as a "Big Hustle" event, allowing players the chance to earn a spot on the International Basketball Federation World Tour.
Registration for the event is due to open next month and conclude in mid-July.
