Ukrainian athletes clinched the two gold medals available on day one of the World Shooting Para Grand Prix in Szczecin.

Yurii Stoiev clinched the first title on offer in the R3 10 metre air rifle prone mixed SH1 event with an excellent performance that saw him shoot for a final total of 251.4 in his nine shots, giving him a grand total score of 634.0.

His compatriot Iryna Schetnik clinched silver in the Polish city with final and grand totals of 250.2 and 630.0, respectively, in her nine attempts.

Israel’s Yulia Chernoy rounded off the podium thanks to totals of 229.2 and 625.0 in her eight shots.

The second Ukrainian gold medal of the day came courtesy of 2015 World Cup champion Iryna Liakhu, who claimed the P2 10m air pistol women SH1 crown thanks to a total of 225.8 points in her nine shots.

She saw off competition from Lithuania's Raimeda Bucinskyte, who was just behind on 225.3 in her nine attempts.

Nadia Fario of Italy came third with 204.8 points after eight shots.

The competition, which is the athletes' last chance to qualify for the upcoming World Championships, continues tomorrow with titles to be decided in the R2 10m air rifle standing women SH1 and R4 10m air rifle standing mixed SH2 events.
