China's home player Sun Feixiang was among the winners as men's first round action began the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Lingshui China Masters today.

The 19-year-old won singles and mixed team gold at the 2016 World Junior Championships in Bilbao and is a three-time Asian junior champion.

He ousted India's Ajay Jayaram at the Agile Stadium in Lingshui today, on the island of Hainan.

Sun came through 21-13, 21-11 to reach round two when the top-ranked and seeded players will come in.

Another former world junior champion did not have the same good fortunes as Chinese Taipei's 2015 winner Lu Chia-hung was knocked out.
