Defending champions Astana Arlans Kazakhstan thrashed hosts China Dragons 5-0 as the tenth week of the World Series of Boxing season began.

The three-time overall winners were far too strong in the Group C clash at the Guizhou Qingzhen Training Center.

China, fighting for the third time this season after two defeats to Russia's Patriot Boxing Team, were 1-0 behind before a punch had been thrown after not naming a heavyweight in their line-up.

This meant Astana's Anton Pinchuk was awarded a walkover.

It would not have made a difference anyway as Astana won all four matches that did take place in the best-of-five contest.

Temirtas Zhussupov got the ball rolling at light flyweight with a unanimous decision win over Quan Yang.

At bantamweight, Ilyas Suleimenov stopped Qingxian Mai in the fourth of the five rounds, with Bekdaulet Ibragimov then beating Shengze Qi by unanimous verdict at light welterweight.

Abilkhan Amankul then stopped Zhenghan Wang in the second round of their middleweight bout.

It means Astana have drawn level with the Patriot Boxing Team on four victories from five fixtures.

Two clashes in Europe also took place in Group B today.

France Fighting Roosters made it five wins from five as they beat visiting Italia Thunder 3-2 in Paris.

British Lionhearts kept the pressure on with a fourth win from five, beating hosts Croatian Knights 4-1.
