The Russian Patriot Boxing Team made it two wins in their two contests against China Dragons in this season's World Series of Boxing (WSB) after they followed up their away victory last week with a 5-0 win on home soil at the Grinn Center in Oryol.

The Patriot Boxing Team already had things in the favour before the tie even got underway as they were given a 1-0 lead after China Dragons failed to submit a boxer for the super heavyweight category, meaning Sergei Egorov was given a win by default.

Flyweight Rasul Saliev put Russia on the brink of victory in the first bout of the evening thanks to a 2-1 victory over Zhang Guo before Shamil Askerov thrashed Chen Yanfei by a 3-0 scoreline to secure the win.

Askerov was judged to be five or more points ahead of Chen on all three of the judges' scorecards.

Despite the fact they had already secured victory in the tie thanks to these three results, the Patriot Boxing Team were ruthless in their remaining two bouts.

First, Shakhabas Makhmudov overwhelmed Taximaimati Haishaer by a 3-0 scoreline before Rishat Bakirov beat Zhang Jilei by the same score.

This result puts Patriot Boxing Team top of Group C ahead of reigning WSB champions Astana Arlans Kazakhstan.

The next WSB fixtures will take place on April 6 with France Fighting Roosters taking on Italia Thunder, Croatian Knights hosting British Lionhearts in the European section and China Dragons going up against Astana Arlans Kazakhstan.
