Australian Taekwondo have selected their team to compete at the third edition of the President's Cup.

The country will send four athletes to the World Taekwondo Europe event in Greek capital Athens.

Safwan Khalil, Jack Marton, Bailey Lewis and Damon Cavey will be the nation's representatives with action scheduled for between April 25 and 29.

Khalil won gold at the 2011 Summer Universiade in Shenzen in the flyweight division, and competed at his second Olympic Games at Rio 2016.

He was the country's most successful athlete at the Brazilian Games, reaching the quarter-finals of the under-58 kilograms event where he was beaten by Thailand's Tawin Hanprab.

A total of 2,300 athletes from 35 countries have been registered to compete at the President's Cup.

The number surpasses the 2,182 athletes who took part at last year's competition, with 51 countries and 14 Olympic medalists among those participating.

Sixteen Australian athletes competed at last year's World Championships in Muju in South Korea, without winning a medal.
