International Federation of Fitness and Bodybuilding Physique America (IFBBPA) have added the Connecticut Classic to their 2018 calendar.

The competition will be the first to be held in the state of Connecticut, with competition set to take place on May 12.

Albert Alfredo, IFBBPA Connecticut state chairman, will be the main organiser of the event.

It is claimed that his experience of organising competitions and close relationship with IFBBPA President Wayne DeMilia will help ensure the event is a success.

Competition will be held in the Bobby Valentine's Sports Academy, located in the city of Stamford.

The venue is named after the former baseball player, manager and EPSN analyst.

IFBBPA claim it is a major coup for the competition, with the venue being named after a sport icon.

The Connecticut Classic will offer awards for the winners, while selection for the United States team will be on offer.

Two athletes will be selected to represent the country at the IFBB Diamond Cup Italy event.

The competition will be held in Rome from November 2 to 4.

All expenses will be covered for the event.
