Guiyang is due to host the 14th edition of the Asian Cross Country Championships tomorrow.

The Championships will feature senior and junior competitions, with medals on offer in individual and team events in the Chinese city.

Countries will be hoping to end Bahrain’s recent dominance of the Championships.

Two years ago, Bahrain claimed all eight gold medals available.

Eunice Chumba triumphed in the women’s senior event at Manama in Bahrain, while Albert Rop claimed the men’s title.

Although both athletes were running for the hosts, they were both born in Kenya.

The Championships, held every two years, are taking place at the Qingzhen Sports Training Base.

The Chinese Athletics Association have combined the continental event with the staging of their National Cross Country Championships.

It will be the 16th edition of the national event.

Guiyang hosted the World Cross Country Championships in 2015.
