Oslo is poised to stage the final mass start competitions of the International Ski Federation Cross-Country World Cup season.

The Norwegian capital will host two days of action tomorrow and Sunday (March 11) as the World Cup season continues to draw towards a conclusion.

The men’s 50 kilometre mass start event will provide the focus tomorrow.

Men’s distance standings are currently led by France’s Maurice Manificat, who boasts 532 points from competitions to date.

He is followed by Kazakhstan’s Alexey Polotoranin on 493 points, with Norway’s Martin Johnsrud Sundby third on 488.

Sundby triumphed in front of a home crowd in Oslo last year and will look to repeat his success.

Women’s 30km mass start action is scheduled to follow on Sunday.

Norwegian athletes are expected to feature prominently, with two local athletes currently heading the World Cup distance standings.

Heidi Weng tops the leaderboard on 776 points, some way clear of her compatriot Ingvild Flugstad Østberg.

Following competition in Norway, skiers are head to Sweden for the final World Cup races in Falun between March 16 and 18.
