David Ferguson earned another two victories to remain as the leader of section two at the Bowls World Cup at the Warilla Bowls and Recreation Club.

The Australian faced the challenge of Spain’s Tom Rogers in his first match of the third day of competition.

He emerged as a 19-2, 7-8, 3-1 winner in the match to keep the pressure on the chasing pack.

Ferguson then was able to claim a 14-6, 9-7 success against Norfolk Island's John Christian to continue his winning streak.

The local player tops the section standings on 18 points, with New Zealand’s Ali Forsyth and Malaysia’s Soufi Rusli three points adrift.

Defending champion Jeremy Henry remains the leader in the men’s section one standings, with an 11-7, 15-3 win over South Africa’s Pierre Brietenbach keeping the Australian out in front.

He has 18 points from his matches to date, with Malta’s Brendan Aquilina second on 15 points.

Bec Van Asch continued Australia’s dominance, as she remains at the top of the section one standings in the women’s competition.

She beat Sio Peng Chan of Macau 14-3, 15-3 to move onto 15 points, three clear of second placed Val Smith of New Zealand.

Scotland’s Kay Moran and New Zealand's defending champion Jo Edwards remain top of the section two standings.

Both players have earned 12 points to date.

The tournament continues tomorrow and runs until March 14.
