The two teams headed into the seventh session at Curl Aberdeen knowing a win would ensure progression from the pool phase.

Defending champions Sweden maintained their unbeaten record to date, as they saw off the challenge of hosts Scotland.

Led by skip Isabella Wranaa, Sweden were able to claim a 10-4 win over Scotland to record their seventh straight success.

"We want to be the top seed in both the semi-finals and the finals, so we need to finish first in the round robin," said Wranaa.

"It's always nice to have the hammer in the important games.

"We still need to focus in the next two games because we need to be the top seed and keep getting a feeling for the ice.

"It's important to keep playing good curling and get in a good mood for the play-off."

Canada ensured they would progress to the play-off stage after they earned a 10-7 win over Switzerland.

Sweden latter beat Turkey 7-3, while Canada secured an 8-6 win over Norway to move to seven wins from eight matches.

There is a major scrap for the final two spots, with China, Norway, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States having four wins and four losses.

Scotland became the first men's team to reach the semi-finals, after a 10-5 win over Switzerland gave them their seventh straight success.

Canada and the United States lie second with five wins and two losses.

Switzerland are fourth with four wins and three defeats.
