Duncan van Haaren claimed two gold medals as the opening event of the World Para Swimming World Series season drew to a close in Copenhagen.

The Dutch swimmer emerged as the winner in the men's 50 metres breaststroke and 200m individual medley at the Bellahoej Svoemmestadion.

As with last year's inaugural World Series circuit, all races featured swimmers of various classifications with winners determined by a points system.

Van Haaren, an SB9 class swimmer, scored a total of 1,006 points to win the 50m breaststroke competition.

The 17-year-old was followed by team-mate Tim van Duuren and Latvia's Jurijs Semjonovs, with the SB8 and SB9 swimmers scoring 914 and 871 points respectively.

Van Haaren earned a score of 922 points to win the 200m individual medley, with countryman Marc Evers and Hong Kong's Wa Kit Choi completing the top three on 906 and 886.

Hong Kong's Wai Lok Tang clinched the 200m freestyle title, as he achieved 972 points.

He narrowly saw off the challenge of Britain's Thomas Hamer, who ended three points adrift of the winner.

Bas Takken added to The Netherlands' medal tally by scoring 937 points for bronze.

The final men's event of the weekend saw Sweden's Mikael Fredriksson win the men's 150m individual medley on 470 points, with Turkey's Hamit Demir second on 119.

Germany's Gina Boettcher was the sole athlete in the women's race.

Chantalle Zijderveld produced a world record SB9 women's 50m breaststroke time to add another Dutch gold.

She finished in a time of 33.69 seconds to earn victory on 1,026 points, with Norway’s four-time Paralympic champion Sarah Louise Rung was second on 967.

The bronze was claimed by Sweden’s Maja Reichard, who ended with a score of 938.

The Netherlands' Cleo Keijzer and Britain's Megan Richter both won the women's 100m backstroke on 967 points.

A bronze medal was awarded to the United States' Hannah Aspden, who finished on 938 points.

There was a British one-two in the women's 200m freestyle, as Louise Fiddes and Eleanor Robinson ended with totals of 957 and 940 respectively.

Dutch swimmer Manon Vermarien was three points adrift of Robinson to complete the top three.

Rung won the women's 200m individual medley on 997 points, with Britain's Maisie Summers-Newton and The Netherlands' Lisa Kruger securing podium finishes on scores of 945 and 940.
