Krasnoyarsk 2019 have announced that tickets for the 2019 Winter Unviersiade have gone on sale in celebration of there being one year to go to the event.

The announcement was made at a press conference at the Arena Sever by deputy head of the upcoming Games, Tatiana Fomintseva.

"Tickets have gone on sale exactly one year before the start of the Games for the first time in Winter Universiade history," she said.

"The distribution of tickets will happen in several phases.

"Now, we are starting to sell tickets for competitions in eight sports.

"Then, in summer, tickets for ski orienteering, bandy, and figure skating will be released.

"The cost of tickets for the sports competitions vary from 100 rubles (£1.20/£1.70/€1.40) to 1,000 rubles (£12.70/$17.60/€14.20).

"Tickets for the Opening and Closing Ceremonies will be released in the autumn with prices starting from 1,500 rubles (£19.00/$26.50/€21.50) for the Opening Ceremony and 1,000 rubles for the Closing Ceremony.

"The phased sale of tickets is an international practice, which maintains demand and fights speculation.

The director of Krasnoyarsk 2019's ticketing company, Elena Glukhovskaya, said that tickets could already be bought online on the official Krasnoyarsk 2019 website as well as on the phone.

"Our company works in 26 countries worldwide," she said.

"We were involved in ticket programmes for three Olympic Games, including in Sochi [2014] and Rio de Janeiro [2016].

"More than one billion tickets are sold through our websites around the world every year for a variety of sporting and cultural events.

"We will use all of our experience to prepare for the 2019 Winter Universidade.

"Our website is very reliable and will even survive a large number of simultaneous visits."

Glukhovskaya also outlined how Krasnoyarsk will combat counterfeiting and abuse.

"Together with the organisers of the Games, we have developed several rules," she said.

"For example, you cannot buy more than 49 tickets in one batch for all events across the Games whilst you can not buy more than 10 tickets for a specific event.

"The electronic tickets will be protected against forgery with a unique barcode whilst a large number of protection ideas are also being used in the production of paper tickets - from holograms to special inks."

To celebrate one year until the start of the Games on March 2, also Krasnoyarsk 2019 organised a festival on Theatre Square.

The festival included a concert, headlined by a Siberian dance group, and a 3D show along with guest appearances by Olympians from Krasnoyarsk, including bobsledder Maxim Adrianov, freestyle skier Marika Pertakhiya and snowboarder Kristina Paul, who all recently returned from Pyeongchang 2018.

At the start of proceedings, the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk, Sergey Eryomin, said: "It is exactly one year until our friendly Krasnoyarsk opens its doors to the world.

"In 365 days, we have to show that truly courageous and hospitable people live in the heart of Russia, in the heart of Siberia.

"The 2019 Winter Universiade is not the final point of a long journey, it is the starting point for the development of a new Krasnoyarsk."
