UEG say SmartScoring will be contributing a significant amount of money to a development programme ©UEG

The European Union of Gymnastics (UEG) and SmartScoring have renewed their partnership for a second year.

It means the Azerbaijan firm will remain as UEG's global partner after the governing body deemed the link-up's debut year as "successful".

SmartScoring will continue to contribute financially to the UEG whilst they will also provide the scoring system for the upcoming European Championships in trampoline, double mini-trampoline and tumbling in Azerbaijan's capital Baku.

The UEG also say that SmartScoring will donate a "significant" amount of money towards a development programme, which is set to be launched later this year.

Additionally, the Gymtv platform will be developed further to ensure the upcoming European Championships are available to watch online with both live streams and catch-up programmes being broadcast.

Farid Gayibov, the secretary general of the Azerbaijan Gymnastics Federation who replaced Georges Guelzec as UEG President in December, expressed his delight at the new deal.

"The partnership with SmartScoring allows us to provide consistency between our events and assist the local Organising Committee with an expensive but essential part of the competition - the results system," he said.

"A huge advantage of working with SmartScoring in 2017 has been the increased attention to sports presentation which raises our European Championships to the next level.

"This is the way we want to go forward."

Baku will host its European Championships from April 12 to 15 and is expected to welcome 700 gymnasts.
