The Badminton World Federation have confirmed the line-ups for the Thomas Cup and Uber Cup team competitions.

Algeria are set to make their first-ever appearance at the Thomas Cup in May after winning the men's team final at the 2018 African Team Championships earlier this month.

The Algerians will join 15 other teams in the Thomas Cup, a men's tournament, which takes place in Bangkok, Thailand, from May 20 to 27.

Denmark qualified by default as defending champions along with hosts Thailand, with 11 others earning their spots through the five continental championships.

China, Indonesia, South Korea and Malaysia qualified as the four semi-finalists from the Asian tournament, along with England, France and Germany - the European semi-finalists along with Denmark.

Algeria, Australia and Canada secured their spots as champions of the African, Oceania and Pan American regions respectively.

The remaining four places were taken by teams with the highest number of ranking points.

These were Chinese Taipei, India, Japan and Russia.

Defending champions and Asian semi-finalists China, along with hosts Thailand, claimed the two default qualification spots at the women's Uber Cup.

China's fellow Asian semi-finalists Indonesia, Japan and South Korea qualified alongside Denmark, Germany, Russia and Spain from the European group.

Mauritius, Australia and Canada also earned places in the Uber Cup line-up thanks to their regional victories in Africa, Oceania and Pan America respectively.

The four teams to qualify by virtue of world ranking are Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, India and Malaysia.

The Uber Cup will also take place in Bangkok between May 20 and 27.
