Latvia's Martins Plavins and Edgars Tocs continued their impressive recent form by reaching the semi-finals of the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) Beach World Tour event on Kish Island.

The duo claimed victory at the World Tour event in the Hague last month and remain on course for success in Iran.

They proved untroubled in their quarter-final tie against Lithuania's Arnas Rumsevicius and Lukas Kasdailis, with the duo emerging as 21-11, 21-16 winners.

They will now face the challenge of Austria's Julian Horl and Tobias Winter in their semi-final.

It followed Horl and Winter securing a closely fought 21-19, 21-18 win over fellow Austrians Christoph Dressler and Robin Seidl.

Mariusz Prudel and Jakub Szalankiewicz of Poland justified their pre-tournament ranking as third seeds.

The Polish pair are set to take on Germany's Alexander Walkenhorst and Sven Winter, who saw off the challenge of Martin Ermacora and Moritz Pristauz of Austria.

Walkenhorst and Winter edged the first set of the tie, before taking control to wrap up a 21-18, 21-14 success.

The semi-finals are both set to take place tomorrow, with the medal matches following later in the day.
