British Wheelchair Basketball have confirmed the appointment of Lisa Pearce as their chief executive.

The national governing body believe Pearce will drive commercial investment in the organisation, aiding participation and elite aspects of the game.

They state Pearce has a proven track record of strategic management of sports, including 10 years experience of driving grassroots participation and securing new commercial partnership relationships.

Pearce currently serves in the same post at the London Football Association and has been credited with achieving transformation change over the last 18 months, including the launch of a three-year strategy.

This included getting more people playing and enjoying football in London, along with initiatives focusing on women's, youth and walking football.

"I am proud and delighted to have been appointed to lead British Wheelchair Basketball on the next phase of its journey," Pearce said.

"It is a critical and exciting time for the sport with its prominent public profile and the GB teams delivering success after success.

"The sport is in a great position to explore new commercial relationships and deliver beneficial investment partnerships which will impact from grassroots level to elite."

Pearce will take up the post from May, where she will succeed long-time chief executive Charlie Bethel.

She has previously held roles at the Lawn Tennis Association, as well as director of sports and enterprise for the Westway Trust.

"Lisa brings a wealth of experience and invaluable insight from multiple sporting organisations to the role," said Paul Hudson, chair of British Wheelchair Basketball.

"She has had exceptional success at the London FA and Lawn Tennis Association delivering ground breaking participation campaigns, securing new funding investment into the sports, and instigating successful change management strategies.

"We look forward to welcoming Lisa to the British Wheelchair Basketball team and working with her to drive the sport's future success."
