Rostock is poised to stage the opening event of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) Diving Grand Prix season.

The German city is approaching a quarter of a century of hosting the annual event, with divers heading to the Hallenschwimmbad Neptun indoor pool for the 24th consecutive year.

Germany will have the largest team at the event, with 17 athletes set to represent the host nation.

Diving powerhouse China will hope to make an impressive start to the season, having named a 10 member team.

Britain have also sent 10 divers to Rostock to compete, while Mexico and Ukraine both have eight competitors.

A total of 24 nations are due to be represented over the next three days, including Armenia, Australia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Finland, France, Italy, Canada and Colombia.

Teams from Croatia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Netherlands, Russia, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, United States and Belarus are also down to compete.

Mixed three metres synchronised springboard, women's 10m platform and men's 3m springboard finals will all be contested on the opening day.

The men's and mixed 10m synchronised platform titles will be earned on Saturday (February 24) along with the men's 3m springboard event.

The Grand Prix will conclude with the women's 10m synchronised platform and 3m springboard competition, as well as the men's 10m platform event on Sunday (February 25).

Several divers will be looking to use the Grand Prix to assist their preparations for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games, which will take place in April.

The second Grand Prix of the season will be held in the Canadian city Calgary from May 10 to 13, before Bolzano in Italy hosts action from July 6 to 8.

Madrid will host the fourth event a week later, before a break until November 9, when Kuala Lumpur stages a three-day competition.

The penultimate event of the season is due to be held in an Australian city from November 15 to 18, although the venue is still awaiting confirmation.

Singapore will stage the final event from November 23 to 25.
