The New Zealand Olympic Committee (NZOC) have named a seven member wrestling team for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.

They will attempt to build on their two bronze medals at Glasgow 2014, where Tayla Ford and Sam Belkin secured podium finishes.

Both wrestlers are set to return for Gold Coast 2018, with Ford due to contest the women's 62 kilogram event.

Belkin will be New Zealand's representative in the men's 97kg freestyle competition.

They will be joined by five debutants in the squad, including Ana Moceyawa and Michelle Montague, who will compete in the women's 57kg and 68kg competitions.

Brahm Richards and Akash Khullar will compete in the men's 65kg and 74kg events, while Toby Fitzpatrick will be their representative in the men's 86kg division.

"This a great mix of experienced wrestlers and exciting young talent," said Iain Adamson, New Zealand Olympic Wrestling Union technical director.

"We have high hopes for this team with many doing well at the Commonwealth Championships in South Africa and the Oceania Championships in Tahiti last year.

"This will also be a great experience for the Games debutantes and one which we expect to greatly contribute to their future in wrestling."

Wrestling competitions will take place from April 12 to 14 at the Games, with action being held in the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre.

New Zealand have also confirmed the addition of Sam and Ben O'Dea to their beach volleyball team for the Games.

The brothers have been seeded fourth in the men's event, as the discipline makes its Games debut.

They join the women's pair of Shaunna Polley and Kelsie Wills.

The Commonwealth Games will take place from April 4 to 15.
