World ParaVolley have launched the World ParaVolley Foundation to help improve the lives of athletes.

The Foundation will seek to plan and deliver fundraising activities with an initial focus on the United States.

It has already been granted charitable status in the country and will now aim to grow and achieve their aim of creating an "inclusive and diverse society" through having Para-athletes seen in their communities as role models.

World ParaVolley said they hope the Foundation will develop the sport and positively impact the lives of people with physical impairments.

A further objective will be to develop relationships with key internal and external constituents, to provide the platform necessary to carry out the goals of inclusion, diversity and achieving sports excellence for Para-athletes.

They have also expressed their hope the Foundation will support the International Paralympic Committee's vision to use Para-sports to inspire and excite the world.

The Foundation has launched its first fundraising campaign, which has been titled "Because I Can".

It is hoped the Foundation will help secure necessary funds required to boost the sport and aid athletes' lives.

Development programmes will be run by the Foundation in five areas, including women in sport and anti-doping.

Emerging countries, standing beach volleyball, boosting the governance structures and aiding volunteer experts has also been targeted.
