Turkey held the sixth edition of the European Taekwondo Clubs Championships, with several well-known athletes testing their form.

The Championships in Istanbul featured clubs registered to World Taekwondo member associations.

Serbia's Tijana Bogdanovic and Milica Mandic were among some of the established stars of the sport to feature at the event.

It came with the athletes looking to build towards the European Championships in May, which will be held in Kazan, Russia.

Bogdanovic, a silver medallist at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games in the 49-kilogram event, opted to contest the women's 53kg competition.

She would ultimately be denied gold by Germany's Inese Tarvida.

There was better fortune for London 2012 Olympic gold medallist Milica Mandic, as she triumphed in the under-73kg competition.

Mandic saw off the challenge of Croatia's Doris Pole in the gold medal match.

Organisers hailed the interest in the Championships with 267 cadets, 318 juniors and 428 senior athletes taking part from various clubs across Europe.

The host nation's clubs proved most successful as they came away with 28 gold, 18 silver and four bronze medals.

Kazakhstan followed after earning six golds, while Ukraine, Germany and Azerbaijan had four each.
