The European Canoe Association (ECA) have unveiled their events calendar for 2018 with the organisation set to celebrate their 25th anniversary this year.

Highlights of the upcoming ECA season include the Canoe Slalom European Championships in Czech capital Prague and the Canoe Marathon European Championships in Metković in Croatia.

The first competition on the calendar is due to be Wildwater Canoeing European Cup, scheduled to take place from April 7 to 22 in three different venues in Macedonia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina respectively.

May's only event sees Europe's canoe polo teams travel to Milan for the European Cup from May 12 to 13.

The schedule then looks busy for June with no fewer than seven competitions taking place.

The action is set to start on June 1 with the Canoe Slalom European Championships in Prague before the sprint tournament, which will serve as a qualification event for the 2019 European Games in Minsk, in Serbian capital Belgrade from June 8 to 10.

Young canoeists will also be given their chance to impress in June with three Slalom Junior European Cup competitions taking place.

The Canoe Marathon European Championships in Metković are due to take place from July 5 to 8 with the athletes then given a few weeks off before August's events begin.

The two headline events in August are the Canoe Freestyle European Championships in Slovakian capital Bratislava from the 13 to the 18 before the Wildwater Canoeing European Cup is held in three different venues in the Czech Republic on 19, 23 and 25.

The Canoe Polo Clubs European Championships in Nottingham in England is due to to take place on September 8 and 9 before season rounds off with the Ocean Racing European Championships in Villajoyosa, Spain on October 6 and 7.
