José Perurena is set to be re-elected as President of the International World Games Association (IWGA) after he was confirmed as the sole candidate for the post.

The International Canoe Federation President is set to serve a second term as the IWGA leader, having first been elected in 2014.

He beat Harald Vervaecke from the International Life Saving Federation in a vote for the position, by 24 votes to 12.

Perurena will be unopposed this time around, with his re-election set to be confirmed at an Annual General Meeting on April 16 in Bangkok.

The meeting will take place during the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) General Assembly.

Max Bishop and Lukas Hinder, who represent the federations of air sports and dancesport respectively, are also set to retain their positions.

They are unopposed for their current roles as vice-president and treasurer, respectively.

There are seven candidates for four positions as members of the IWGA Executive Board, with Anna Arzhanova seeking re-election.

The World Underwater Federation President unsuccessfully stood for the top position at GAISF, under its previous guise of SportAccord, in 2015.

She will hope for better fortunes in seeking re-election to the IWGA Board.

Arzhanova will face competition from World Flying Disc Federation (WFDF) executive director Volker Bernardi, World Karate Federation President Antonio Espinós and Jan Fransoo, International Korfball Federation President.

Orienteering's Thomas Hollowell, floorball's John Liljelund and Espen Lund from kickboxing complete the list of candidates.

Current Board members Tom Dielen from World Archery and the WFDF's Fumio Morooka have chosen not to seek re-election.

A secret ballot will be held to decide the four members of the Board, who will serve four-year terms through to 2021.

The IWGA said the Executive Committee will be tasked with representing the organisation, helping to implement decisions of the General Meeting and to conduct business of the IWGA in the period between meetings.

They will also supervise the work of the chief executive.
