Officials from Krasnoyarsk 2019 gave a presentation to several foreign Embassy representatives to highlight the preparations for the 2019 Winter Universiade in Krasnoyarsk, while also looking to highlight the tourism options the region has to offer.

Officials from the Embassies, including Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, Germany, Mongolia, Austria, Serbia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and India, were present for the meeting, which outlined the work going on in the Krasnoyarsk region in preparation for the Games.

At the start of the meeting, the guests were told that the main purpose of the presentation was to demonstrate the current investment into the economic development of Krasnoyarsk and also to discuss large-scale projects being implemented in the region with a view to attracting foreign investment.

During the meeting, the head of the Moscow office for the 2019 Games, Sergei Minochkin, underlined the Organising Committee's intention to ensure all attendees of the Games will be comfortable and safe at all times.

"The Organising Committee is making every effort to ensure that Krasnoyarsk 2019 will be the best Winter Universiade in the history of the competition," he told delegates.

"Participants and athletes will be provided with maximum comfort and safety at every stage of the Games."

Minochkin also claimed that he hoped the latest meeting with the Embassy representatives would strengthen cooperation between Russia and foreign countries before the event.

"It will be great to welcome national delegations from different countries to Krasnoyarsk," he said.

"On March 2, official invites will be sent out to National University Sports Federations, which will help athletes register for the 2019 Winter Universiade.

"We hope that this meeting will help us ensure that these Games are held in an atmosphere of friendship and hospitality."

The Government of Krasnoyarsk also hope that the Universiade will help attract tourists to the region.

With this being the case, Krasnoyarsk’s Minister of Culture Elena Mironenko showed the Embassy officials the tourist routes and sights the region has to offer.

The guests were also told about the Krasnoyarsk Ministry of Culture's large-scale cultural programme being developed especially for the Games.

The programme will include excursions around the territory and events to illustrate Siberian culture.

At the meeting, Mironenko emphasised that Krasnoyarsk was ready for an influx of tourists.

"We have over 400 travel agencies and 30 tour operators in the region, all of whom are licensed and have qualified guides who speak several languages," he said.

It was recently announced that all guests to the 2019 Winter Universiade will have access to free public transport throughout the Games.

The 2019 Winter Universiade will take place from March 2 to 12.
