Athletes from host nation Indonesia won several medals on the second day of testing for the Jakarta Palembang 2018 Asian Games.

Indonesia won four medals in athletics competitions at the testing event, including two gold medals.

Maria Londa, a 2014 Asian Games gold medallist, secured gold in the women’s long jump with a leap of 6.43 metres at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium.

This was just about enough to defeat Indian duo Varakij Neena and Nayana James, who recorded distances of 6.42m and 6.16m respectively.

The other gold for Indonesia came on the track as Zohri Muhammad won the men's 100 metres.

Muhammad finished the race in a time of 10.25sec to clinch the victory, three seconds ahead of Sri Lanka’s Vinoj Muthumuni.

Also on the track, Indonesia’s Nova Emilia claimed silver in the women's 100 metre hurdles thanks to a time of 14.16.

This was not enough to beat Chinese Taipei athlete Hsi-En Hsieh who finished the race in 13.78.

Rizky Pratama secured Indonesia's fourth athletics medal of the day thanks to his bronze-winning effort of 2.10m in the men's high jump.

Lee Hup Wei of Malaysia claimed the gold with a jump of 2.19m and Hsiang Chun-hsien of Chinese Taipei the silver.
