He overcame Egypt’s Omar Abdelaziz by a 4-0 score in the gold medal match, with South Africa’s Shawn Kok winning bronze.

The hosts also celebrated victory in the women's 46kg cadet competition, with Christianah Ogunsanya beating Tunisia's Lamia Rtibi.

Mercy Bolafunaoluwa overcame Algeria's Souad Bouksir in the women’s 53kg final to add to the hosts' tally.

The local crowd then watched Sunmisola Balogun come from behind to beat Cameroon's Natacha Nabaina in the 65kg division.

Egypt were also able to celebrate success in the women's cadet divisions, with Sara Mahmoud and Hala Ahmea winning gold in the 43kg and 57kg competitions.

Faten Ahmed was denied gold in the 49kg final, with the Egyptian suffering defeat to Morocco's Zineb Ech Chabki.

The final women's cadet title was claimed by Tunisia’s Khadija Jlassi, who secured victory over Natasha Essien in the heavyweight 73kg competition.

The men's 92kg division saw three cadet wrestlers go for gold, with Shady Waheeb of Egypt winning both of his bouts to top the podium.

Waheeb's team-mates had less success, with four ending as runners-up across the divisions, although Abdalla Shaaban won the 45kg division.

Algeria's Mohamed Dridi, Ahmed Merikhi and Fadi Rouabah won the men's cadet 48kg, 60kg and 80kg respectively.

Tunisia were also able to secure several titles, with Mehdi Jouini taking the 51kg gold medal.

His success was followed by wins for Lamjed Maafi and Mohamed Landolsi winning the 65kg and 71kg competitions.
