PV Sindhu progressed to the women's singles final in front of a home crowd at the Badminton World Federation India Open in New Delhi.

The Olympic silver medallist proved untroubled during her semi-final encounter with Thailand's Ratchanok Intanon at the World Tour Super 500 event.

Sindhu eased to the opening game 21-13 and maintained her momentum to secure the second 21-15, moving a step closer to securing the title at the Siri Fort Indoor Stadium.

United States' Beiwen Zhang will provide the opposition in the final, having come from a game down to beat Hong Kong's Cheung Ngan Yi.

Zhang lost the opener 21-19, but stormed back to triumph in the remaining games 21-12, 21-19.

China's Shi Yugi won a thrilling men's singles semi-final against Malaysia's Iskandar Zulkarnain, with the fourth seed triumphing 18-21, 21-10, 21-19.

Shi will now face Chinese Taipei's Chou Tien Chen, as the third seed won 23-21, 21-16 against China's Qiao Bin.

India's hopes of doubles success came to an end, as Pranaav Jerry Chopra and Reddy Sikki were beaten 21-16, 21-19 by Denmark’s Mathias Christiansen and Christinna Pedersen in the mixed.

The Danes will take on Indonesia's Praveen Jordan and Melati Daeva Oktavianti in the final, after they won 21-19, 24-22 against China's He Jiting and Du Yue.

Du suffered a second defeat of the day in the women's doubles alongside Li Yinhui, with the Chinese pairing losing 21-19, 21-18 to Thailand's Jongkolphan Kititharakul and Rawinda Prajongjai.

The second seeds are set to meet Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu, with the Indonesians having triumphed 21-14, 19-21, 21-18 by Denmark's Kamilla Rytter Juhl and Christinna Pedersen.

An all-Indonesian men's doubles semi-final saw Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo beat Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan 21-11, 21-16.

Their opponents in the final will be Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, who were 21-19, 21-14 winners against China's Han Chengkai and Zhou Haodong.
