Richard Oelsner led a German one-two in the two-man bobsleigh event at the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation Junior World Championships in St Moritz.

Oelsner and brakeman Alexander Schueller clocked a combined time of 2min 13.95sec to oust compatriots Christoph Hafer and Tobias Schneider by a narrow 0.02sec margin.

The bronze medal in the event was secured by Benjamin Maier and Kilian Walch of Austria, who were 0.16 adrift of the victorious German pair.

The under-23 title in the two-man competition also went to Oelsner and Schueller.

The German duo beat European champion Mihai Tentea and brakeman Ciprian Daroczi of Romania, with Youth Olympic champion Jonas Jannusch and Benedikt Hertel taking bronze.

In the women's bobsleigh event, Romania's Andreea Grecu and Iusco Florentina Costina were crowned junior world champions after they recorded a combined 2:18.46 from their two runs.

The Romanians were third after the opening run but recovered with a superb display in their second to edge Youth Olympic Champion Laura Nolte with Lavinia Pittschaft of Germany.

Kim Kalicki and Lena Zelichowski, also from Germany, rounded off the podium by clinching bronze.

There was further success for the German team in the under-23 event, which was won by Nolte and Pittschaft in 2:18.77.

Polina Nazaruk and Victoria Shabalina of Russia were the recipients of the silver medal, while bronze was earned by China's Qing Ying and Xinyi He.

The event in St Moritz concludes tomorrow.
