Greenslade, who won a silver medal in the men's singles at the 2012 championships, came through a tight first set against Foster, a 17-time World Indoor Bowls medallist, 8-7, giving him the confidence to claim the second set in more comfortable fashion by an 8-4 scoreline.

The Welshman won nine ends to the eight won by four-time Commonwealth Games gold medallist Foster.

Greenslade also recorded more scoring shots than his opponent with 16 to Foster’s 11.

Earlier in the day, England’s Mervyn King, who won the event in 2006, defeated compatriot Nick Brett 8-2, 6-6 in the men’s singles.

The women’s singles semi-final matches also took place with two-time World Indoor Bowls women's singles champion Katherine Rednall of England thrashing Scottish counterpart Lesley Doig, who won the mixed pairs trophy yesterday, by a score of 10-4, 13-2.

Rednall managed to score with 23 of her shots to Doig's six whilst she also won twice as many ends as her opponent, 10-5.

She will face compatriot Rebecca Field in tomorrow's final after she defeated fellow English player Janice Gower.

Field seemed to be well on her way to the final after a convincing 11-4 win in the first set.

However, Gower, who made her international debut in 2007, recovered spectacularly to secure the second set 8-1 to take the match to a tiebreak.

Despite the momentum seemingly being with Gower, Field produced an excellent performance to take the tiebreak 2-0 and secure her place in the final.
