Australia made it two victories from two in the first Netball Quad Series of 2018 as they beat hosts England 50-46 at London's Copper Box Arena.

Both sides had won their first matches in the four-team tournament but it was the Diamonds who were able to triumph for a second time.

The Australians built a 28-21 lead before England narrowed the gap to just three points at the end of the third quarter, with the score 37-34.

The fightback proved to be too little, too late, however, as Australia held on to back up their opening win against South Africa.

England had begun their tournament with a win over New Zealand.

Australia, the world and Commonwealth Games champions, have won two of the three Quad Series tournaments held to date.

"I think the way we started the game wasn't good enough," England coach Tracey Neville told Sky Sports

"The ball was moving through the court too fast for our defenders to make any impact."

South Africa will host New Zealand at Johannesburg's Ellis Park Arena on January 25, the second match for both sides.

The Series will conclude on January 28 when Australia will play New Zealand and England will meet South Africa.
