Private healthcare group Thomson Medical has announced plans to support recipients of the Singapore Olympic Foundation (SOF)-Peter Lim Scholarship.

Under the terms of the partnership, announced by the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC), around 1,000 up-and-coming athletes who form part of the scheme over the next two years will benefit from sports medical services provided by Thomson Wellth Musculoskeletal Clinic.

The support will continue for life.

"We are pleased to see more organisations such as Thomson Medical stepping forward to support local athletes with their resources and expertise," said SOF director and SNOC secretary general Chris Chan.

Chan added: "I am confident that the support from Thomson Medical will go a long way in helping our athletes achieve sporting excellence."

The SOF-Peter Lim Scholarship was set up in 2011, a local billionaire who owns a controlling stake in La Liga club Valencia.

It provides support to promising young athletes from financially challenged backgrounds to help them achieve their sporting goals.

"As a former athlete and current fitness enthusiast I am happy to support our Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Scholarship recipients and do my part for the sporting community in Singapore,” Chiam Tut Fu, consultant sports medicine physician of Thomson Wellth Musculoskeletal Clinic, said.
