Australia has not yet confirmed its gymnastics team for the Games, due to run from April 4 to 15, and Prince is desperate to secure a place on the squad.

Prince was a member of the Australian trio which won the gold medal in the rhythmic team all-around event at New Delhi 2010 and also represented her country in Glasgow four years later.

The 25-year-old, a three-time Pacific Rim Championships bronze medallist, said it would be a dream to compete at Gold Coast 2018.

"Being an athlete in the second half of my career, having gone to two Commonwealth Games before, these home Games will really be icing on the cake," Prince said.

"When I went to Delhi, I was the baby, just turned 18, which sounds a little bit old for gymnastics but it was one of my first major international competitions.

“Which was pretty daunting.

“But to go through the Games with a couple of older athletes really helped me in the competition, the environment and the Village. 

"It was really helpful."

Prince is also hoping she can take on a senior role within the team if she is selected for the Games, scheduled to run from April 4 to 15.

She believes she can use her Commonwealth Games experience to guide younger members of the squad.

"I would love to be able to bring that to the team, not just from a performance perspective, but a team member aspect and I guess, a leadership role," she added.
