Russian skiers Nikita Kryukov, Alexander Bessmertnykh and Natalia Matveyeva have reportedly become the latest from the country to appeal their suspensions from the Olympic Games to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

The trio are among 43 athletes who have been retrospectively disqualified from Sochi 2014 and barred from all future editions for their involvement in the "systemic manipulation" of the anti-doping system at the Russian Games.

Kryukov is a three-time world champion who won individual sprint gold at Vancouver 2010.

He then secured a silver in the team sprint in Sochi before this medal was stripped.

Bessmertnykh has also been stripped of an Olympic relay silver medal and both he and Matveyeva also gained silver medals at last year's World Championships in Lahti.

Reasoned decisions against the trio have not yet been published.

But their lawyer Anna Kozmenko has told the TASS news agency that their appeals have been filed to the Lausanne-based body.

No precise date has been announced for the CAS hearings, but they are expected to take place at the end of this month.

It is also not yet clear if athletes will be heard separately, all together, or in specific groups.

Other Russian cross-country skiers sanctioned so far include Alexander Legkov and Maxim Vylegzhanin, the gold and silver medal winners in the men's 50 kilometres mass start event.
