Austrian superstar Marcel Hirscher will chase more Italian success tomorrow at the final International Ski Federation Alpine Skiing World Cup slalom event of the calendar year at Madonna di Campiglio.

Hirscher claimed a fifth-consecutive giant slalom win at the World Cup event in Alta Badia on Sunday (December 17).

He also triumphed at this season's last slalom leg in the French resort of Val d'Isère.

Henrik Kristoffersen finished second in that race but holds a slender 11 point lead over Hirscher in the overall World Cup standings.

The Norwegian also triumphed at last year's event at Madonna di Campiglio.

Hirscher had to settle for second on that occasion as home hope Stefano Gross took third.

Both runs are scheduled for tomorrow evening.

It will mark the only race in Madonna de Campiglio.

Italy will play host to another World Cup leg on December 28 and 29, where downhill and Alpine combined races are scheduled in Bormio.

The next slalom leg after tomorrow is due to take place in Zagreb on January 4.
