International Paralympic Committee Para Alpine Skiing World Cup action is due to belatedly begin tomorrow in the Austrian resort of Kuhtai.

It follows the cancellation of the planned season opener in St. Moritz last week due to bad weather.

Two-time Paralympic champion Markus Salcher of Austria will be one athlete hoping for home success when he participates in the men's standing division.

France's teenage sensation Arthur Bauchet will be a leading rival after claiming double gold at the World Para Alpine Skiing Championships in Tarvisio earlier this year.

He also beat Salcher twice in super-G at the Pyeongchang 2018 test event in March.

Action will also take place in sitting and visually impaired events for the world's top male and female Para-skiing stars.

Five further stages take place in the New Year in Zagreb-Sljeme in Croatia on January 8 and 9, Kranjska Gora in Slovenia on January 11 and 12, Veysonnaz in Switzerland on January 15 to 18, Tignes in France on January 21 to 26 and Kimberley in Canada on February 7 to 11.

The World Cup events are key milestones for skiers ahead of the Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games, which will be held from March 9 to 18.
