The International Ski Federation (FIS) cancelled the FIS Freestyle Ski World Cup event in Arosa due to the poor weather conditions, that they believed put athletes' safety at risk.

It meant that qualifying results have now become the official event results.

In the ladies’ ski cross event, Sweden’s Sandra Naeslund, who won the ski cross final at the world championships in Sierra Nevada, Spain, in March took gold with a qualification time of 34.14.

She was followed by Heidi Zacher of Germany who recorded a time of 34.96. This means the German takes her first World Cup medal since winning bronze in Grindelwald in March 2011.

26-year-old Canadian Brittany Phelan completed the top three.

There was also a victory for Sweden in the men’s qualification event as Viktor Andersson won with a time of 31.66.

Canada’s Kevin Drury beat his previous World Cup best of tenth place to take silver, coming just 0.33 seconds behind Andersson.

Sweden’s Victor Norberg Oehling, who, like his female compatriot Naeslund, also won gold in Sierra Nevada  in March, took the final place on the podium, recording a time of 32.02.
