Strong winds across the Alps have played havoc with winter sports schedule across the region, and the 2017 Audi FIS Ski Cross Alps tour has been no exception.

After cancelling the second of two weekend competitions scheduled for Val Thorens on Saturday, organizers and officials were again forced to make some schedule changes on Monday at the second stop of the Tour, cancelling training and qualifications scheduled in Arosa due to strong winds.

However, with calmer conditions expected for Tuesday, a revamped program will feature training, qualifications, and finals all happening in one day.

Organisers are confident that as long as there is no heavy rain or a changing of the winds, the event will go ahead.

In total 60 men will begin qualification, weather permitting.

They will be lead out by Jonas Devouassoux, of France, followed by Marc Bischofberger, of Switzerland, and Florian Wilmsmann, of Germany and Kevin Drury, of Canada.

Canadian Chris Delbosco, a winner in Val Thorens last week, will be 16th out of the blocks.

Ryan Regez, of Switzerland is the men's holder from last year. and goes out 35th in qualifying.

Slovenian top-ranked skiier Filip Flisar will be the tenth qualifer, with second-ranked Canadian Brady Leman ninth and third-ranked Alex Fiva, of Switzerland, seventh.

Poland's Karolina Riemen-Zerebecka will lead out the women's qualifying event, followed by Russian Anastasiia Chirtcova and France's Ophelie David.

Sweden's Sandra Naeslund and Germany's Heidi Zacher go 16th and 15th as they look to continue their fine start to the World Cup season.

Naeslund made the most of Marielle Thompson's absence to win the opening women's race of the Ski Cross World Cup season in Val Thorens last week.

Naeslund was the favourite on the French course with Canada's Thompson, the reigning Olympic, World Cup and Cross Alps Tour champion, missing due to a knee injury.

Thompson, the winner last year at this Swiss resort, is again missing with the field down to 35 competitors.
