Sweden lifted the title for a sixth consecutive time at the International Floorball Federation Women’s World Floorball Championships with victory over Finland in a shootout after the match had ended 5-5.

Amanda Delgado Johansson scored the winning shot and ensure Sweden claimed victory for the eighth time in 11 years since the event made its debut in 1997.

Sweden looked to be coasting to a comfortable victory at the Ondrej Nepela Arena when they led 4-1 at one stage.

Sofia Joelsson had put Sweden ahead before Finland equalised thanks to Silja Eskelinen.

Sara Steen and Johansson, with two, then put Sweden three goals ahead before Nina Rantala in a powerplay to reduce it to 4-2 at the end of the second period.

Revitalised, Finland had the momentum behind them in the third period.

First, Oona Kauppi scored in a powerplay and cut down the score to 4-3.

Then, Veera Kauppi brought the Arena to its feet when she scored the equaliser.

Moa Tschop restored Sweden's lead for the drama to continue when Veera Kauppi brought the Finns level once more.

Overtime failed to produce a winner and it was left to Johansson, a 22-year-old born in Spain, to seal the victory.

Earlier, Switzerland had won the bronze medal with a 3-2 win over the Czech Republic.
