The United States' Dane Jackson posted the highest score in the preliminary round of the men’s canoe event on day four of the International Canoe Federation (ICF) Canoe Freestyle Kayak Championships in San Juan in Argentina.

The 23-year-old followed up his chart-topping performance in the men’s kayak senior event yesterday with a score of 1,936.66 points at the White Water Park.

Frenchman Sebastien Devred finished second with 1,796.67 points, while Czech Republic’s Lukas Cervinka came third with 1,721.67.

Jackson has dominated freestyle kayak in recent years and won the K1 and C1 double at the 2015 World Championships in Ottawa in Canada.

Cervinka is expected to be one of the main challengers for the C1 gold on Saturday (December 2), after winning the past three European titles.

"Before each competition I feel really good," the Czech said.

"I don’t feel stress anymore.

"There’s not much difference competing here than in the Europeans, but it is better here.

"There are a lot of really good people here."
