Netball South Africa (NSA) has elected a new President, Cecilia Molokwane, at its Annual General Meeting in Ekurhuleni.

A former director of selection in the National Executive, she defeated Mimi Mthethwa, a long-standing incumbent of the office, by 55 votes to 40.

Christine du Preez, a former director of selection, is the new vice-president, while Mpumi Javu succeeded her in the previous role.

Annie Kloppers is the new director of umpires, while Anneline Lewies and Mami Diale were, respectively, elected as director of coaching and director of demarcation.

Blanche de la Guerre remains the chief executive.

The new executive will serve a term of four years.

Molokwane said that the executive needed to meet as soon as possible and that netball, as the country's largest women's sport, could go from strength to strength.

"I live, eat and breathe netball," she said.

"I have been involved in all aspects of the game, as a player, as a coach and as an administrator.

"I have been assistant coach of the national team, and head coach of the under-20 team, and I also served on the national executive as director of selection."

Mthethwa was President for the last 12 years and she worked closely with the Eminent Persons Group, a watchdog over transformation in sport.

She was involved in launching the Brutal Fruit Netball Premier League, the third largest in the world, and negotiated with former Australian World Cup winning coach Norma Plummer and her assistant, Nicole Cusack, to coach the Proteas, now contenders for a top three world ranking position.
