New Zealand will chase a fifth successive victory at the Fast5 Netball World Series when action begins tomorrow at the Hisense Arena in Melbourne.

The two-day event features a dynamic shortened form of the game consisting of five players a side as well as shorter quarters, power plays and super shots.

Hosts Australia will be seeking to avenge a defeat last year to their bitter rivals in the same venue.

England, Fiji, Jamaica and Malawi will also participate.

All six teams will face each other in a round-robin format tomorrow and on Sunday (October 29) morning.

Play-offs for first, third and fifth places will then take place in the afternoon to decide the final positions.

The Series was first held in England between 2009 and 2011 under the name Fast Net.

This evolved into Fast5 in 2012.

England's victory in the 2011 edition in Liverpool still marks the only time that New Zealand have not emerged the winners in seven editions.

The Silver Ferns demolished Australia 41-16 in the final of last year's event in the same venue.

"We are delighted with how this shortened game of netball is developing and attracting new audiences," said International Netball Federation President Molly Rhone after posing with each team captain before the tournament.

"It's a highlight of our international calendar and is a hit with media and broadcasters."
