Cathrine Dufour claimed a home victory for Denmark at the International Equestrian Federation Dressage World Cup leg in Herning.

The 25-year-old, a triple European medallist, triumphed on board Atterupgaards Cassidy at the Jyske Bank Boxen.

They scored a total of 79.84 per cent to top the pile.

It meant that Germany's six-time Olympic gold medallist Isabell Werth had to settle for second place.

Riding Don Johnson FRH, the defending overall World Cup champion and seven-time world champion scored 77.44 per cent.

Sweden clinched bronze thanks to Patrik Kittel and Delaunay Old.

They finished just under three per cent behind the German.
