Fernando Gaviria took command of the leader's red jersey in the Tour of Guangxi with a second successive stage victory in southern China after out-sprinting Germany's Maximilian Walscheid in Nanning.

The 23-year-old Colombian, who rides for the Quick-Step Floors team, had already taken the inaugural stage in Beihai and with four stages to go now carries a five second lead over Switzerland's Silvan Dillier having finished in three hours, 43 minutes and 54 seconds.

Third-placed Walscheid is 14 seconds behind the leader with Dutch cyclist Dylan Groenewegen holding the same time in fourth place and fellow Dutch cyclist Wouter Wippert a further two seconds back in fifth.

The Ukraine's Andrey Grivko and Germany's Pascal Ackermann carry the same time in sixth and seventh with a third Dutch rider, Wilco Kelderman, a further three seconds back in eighth.

The top ten is completed by French rider Rémi Cavagna and Spain's Jonathan Lastra Martinez with both holding the same time.

The six-stage race, which concludes with an uphill finish on Tuesday, marks the final leg of the 2017 International Cycling Union (UCI) World Tour season.

Gaviria and Dillier, who rides for BMC Racing, again collected valuable bonus seconds on the 156.7 km stage from Qinzhou to Nanning, in which five of the first ten to finish were Italian.

Dillier, who was part of a three-man break with Spain's Jonathan Lastra (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) and home favourite Wang Meiyin (Bahrain-Merida), picked up six bonus seconds at intermediate sprints, before being caught in the final five kilometres.

Gaviria delivered in another bunch sprint to collect the win ahead of Walscheid and Wippert.
